If there were any doubts left that Sony is sitting on an announcement for a brand new successor to the PSP, Electronic Arts has crushed them.

The publisher’s senior vice president Patrick Soderlund, speaking in an interview with CVG, revealed his company has already gone hands on with the gadget.

"Well, obviously as a developer we have had that - but I'm not allowed to talk about it," he said.

A bit tight lipped

But that’s all she wrote, with the VP refusing to reveal any dates, specs or info on the upcoming games console.

"We can't talk about it because of our relationship with Sony obviously, which is... That's just the way it is,” said Soderlund.

It's not the first mention of a PSP 2, by any count, but it's the first time a major publisher has outed Sony’s beast.

Mortal Kombat developer Shaun Himmerick blogged about the device earlier this year, and a rumour got out that development kits were in the wild.
