The Backbone Pro launches to offer one controller for all your devices
One controller for all your games

- Handheld mode or wireless mode
- Small but with full-sized joysticks
- Handy Backbone app
With the Backbone One 2nd-gen controller announcing support for the iPhone 16 last year, this time around, they're taking it a step further with the launch of the Backbone Pro. It's meant to be a next-gen controller that you can use wirelessly via Bluetooth or physically connect to your device via USB-C.
The latter will supposedly ensure zero latency and will eliminate the need to charge up your peripheral, while the wireless mode has the added advantage of portability and flexibility. Most notable is the Backbone Pro's compatibility with phones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs, and even VR headsets.
It's meant to be a one-controller-fits-all kind of deal, as the FlowState Technology lets you switch devices easily with previously paired devices. Supposedly, the team tirelessly worked to ensure it's got the "smallest form factor ever to accommodate full-size joysticks" - no easy feat, I'd imagine.

This comes with customisation features and remappable back buttons as well, along with a handy Backbone app. This means you can supposedly access games from Apple Arcade, Netflix, Xbox Remote Play, Steam Link, and Nvidia GeForce NOW from the app. And if you happen to be subscribed to Backbone+, you can dip your toes into its library of games for free.
"We believe the future of gaming transcends individual devices," says Maneet Khaira, Founder and CEO of Backbone. "With Backbone Pro, you can experience the excitement and connection of gaming on any screen with just a single device."
If all that sounds absolutely fab to you, you can head on over to the official Backbone website to give it a go yourself. A UK launch is soon to follow. Or if you're looking for something you can test it out on, why not have a look at our list of the best games with controller support on Android?
