Apple: 400 accounts affected by hackers but App Store not compromised
|

A couple of days ago, we reported that a small number of iTunes accounts were hacked by Asian App developers to get their App Store rank a few notches higher.

Speaking with Clayton Morris, Apple says that only 400 accounts were attacked and used for malicious downloading. In the grand scheme of 150 million iTunes users, that’s a paltry 0.0003 per cent of users.

Besides, Apple says it’s not even entirely its fault. The App Store servers were not compromised in any way, so all hackees were victims of phishing, guessed passwords, and that sort of reverse engineering "hacking".

Still, the iTunes gatekeepers will be implementing a few security measures to stop this sort of fraud happening again. Basically, you’ll be prompted to enter your credit card’s security code a little more often.
