Another day, another award ceremony (not for PSP though)
Phantom Hourglass goes head-to-head with iPod's Peggle

There are so many game award ceremonies at the moment it's like being in Hollywood - obviously just with the blockbuster films replaced with consoles and mobile phones while the world-wide adoration is swapped with being told we need to get out in the sun more.
Today's award nominees are for the eighth annual Game's Developer's Choice Awards, held at the Game Developers Conference, so fairly respectable then.
Nominees and winners are decided by a combination of public votes and an advisory committee of industry professionals who make sure nothing like Barbie Horse Adventures is voted in by practical jokers or people who don't know better.
Skipping past all the nominations for home console and PC, here's the important stuff; the nominees for Best Handheld Game (which also includes mobile and iPod).
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords (DS)
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS)
Phase (iPod)
Contra 4 (DS)
Peggle (iPod)
Nothing for PSP then!
iPod game Peggle has also - deservedly in our opinion - been nominated for Best Downloadable Game while special recipients chosen to be honoured during the ceremony include Civilization creator Sid Meier.
The awards will take place in February 20th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Our invite appears to have got lost in the post but we'll bring you news of the winners when we hear them nonetheless.
