What's a little existential crisis every now and then?

Phantom Tower
Ah, the Tower - a basic staple in every RPG, with more than a hundred floors you need to climb to either save a hapless princess or defeat an evil sorcerer waiting for you at the top. There are bats, beasts, and all kinds of baddies you'll have to face, with plenty of loot (and maybe even wealth and power) you can scavenge along the way.
In Phantom Tower, all that is presented with roguelike elements that spice up each floor you climb, offering Tower Blessings, elemental classes, and mysterious Glyphs that will help you on your quest. Hordes of horrors will come at you to keep you from reaching the top in one piece, but with all the randomised buffs you can unlock, the third, the fifth, or the two hundredth time might just be a charm.

Meteorfall: Rustbowl Rumble will have you duking it out in the titular rumble against bearbearians and snotwolves, all to get your hands on the Mask of the Uberlich for the ultimate bragging rights.
Featuring a distinct art style fans of the Meterofall franchise know and love, this whimsically wacky card battler lets you pick from a pool of eight heroes to build a team of three. Each one will have a set of cards you can strategise with, plus over 200 different types to master for that sweet, sweet victory.

Ultimate Chicken Horse will have you strengthening your friendships (or ruining them) across a competitive platformer, because as you build levels together, you'll also have to make sure you reach the finish line without them.
If you've always wanted to mess with your best buds by making sure you score points while they can't, now's your chance. It's available online and with local co-op too, so you can beat your besties no matter the time or place.

From the makers of the adorable Shovel Pirate comes the equally adorable Dino Quake, in which you climb higher and higher as a lovable dinosaur on a mission to stop an alien invasion.
If that premise alone doesn't entice you to give this a go, then the charming 16-bit aesthetics - not to mention the cute dino heroes themselves - might just do the trick. As Mina and Kiwi, you'll platform your way through chonky sharks, gigantic frogs, and angry apes to fulfil your quest. The twist is that you have the power to create quakes and stun enemies, so while the task might seem daunting, you're not going to be charging into battle empty-handed!
