My Hero Academia United Survival hits one million downloads in less than a month since launch

My Hero Academia may have wrapped up its print and screen run more than a few years ago, but it seems that fans of Kohei Horikoshi's superhero manga are still eager for more. As if you needed any other indication, the recently released My Hero Academia United Survival just hit over a million players a little over a week after launch!

My Hero Academia United Survival mimics the formula of Vampire Survivors, seeing you form a three-person squad out of various iconic characters drawn from the wider series. And to mark this one million milestone, there'll be a limited-time login event taking place with plenty of exciting rewards.

Surviving school

Running until August 31st, the login bonus consists of 10x tickets for each type of character (melee, projectile, AoE) as well as 10x featured enlistment tickets. And in case you're not sure where your favourite character places, be sure to check out our My Hero Academia United Survival tier list!

Aside from being a testament to the continuing popularity of the series, it's rather interesting to note that taking inspiration from a hit indie has worked out so well for KLabs. They're not the only studio to try it, as The Walking Dead: Aftermath also had a crack at emulating the formula to mixed results, but in MHA's case it's proven to be a success.

As for whether the Survivors-like is going to become a new standard for licensed games in future? We'll just have to wait and see, but with MHA, The Walking Dead and even Warhammer getting in on the action, it's a question not so much of if but when.
