Halfbrick, the creator of the mega-successful iPhone smash (or rather ‘slice’), Fruit Ninja, has unleashed its latest creation onto the New Zealand App Store.

Monster Dash is a side-scrolling Canabalt-styled running game in which the excellently named Barry Steakfries (who also appeared in Age of Zombies on Minis) must navigate four different worlds in order to, well, move to the right-hand side of the screen without dying.

In between him and success are not only perilous drops into the abyss, but hordes of monstrosities hell-bent on stopping him in his tracks.

Thankfully, unlike the guy in Canabalt (who appears to be allergic to guns), Barry Steakfries has a range of exotic (read: a bit silly) weaponry available to help him, including the overly extreme-sounding Machine Gun Jetpack.

Monster Dash is out now on the New Zealand App Store, and will be available from midnight tonight in Europe for £0.59/$0.99/€0.79.
