Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans G, a brand new turn-based RPG based on the anime series of the same name, launches in Japan
Bandai Namco, legendary developer of triple-A titles like Tales of Arise or even Tekken 7, has officially launched a brand new title within Japan: Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans G. This release is based on the popular anime series of the same name, and features turn-based combat gameplay featuring all your favourite characters from the anime!
In terms of the moment-to-moment gameplay, you’ll create your party of characters from the series and utilise them in a turn-based encounter that plays a lot like other party-building RPGs, but this one specifically harkens to NiER: Reincarnation. Your party will square off against opponents in a 3D setting as you take down bosses or waves of smaller enemies.
As for the story, the game seeks to retell the tale of the Iron-Blooded Orphan series, and actually features full 2D animated scenes ripped right from the anime as the cutscenes. Given how much of a hit the anime was when it was originally airing, this story is likely to be quite emotional and not pull any punches, as it is about child soldiers fighting in a war that they didn’t want to be a part of.
That sort of heavy material is nothing new for the Gundam series, as it’s always been about the consequences of war and what it means for those forced to participate in it. A very political series, Iron-Blooded Orphans is no different, so be ready for some heavy punches during the main story of this release.
If that sounds like something you’re into, you can download Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans G for free at either of the links below as long as you’re located in Japan. Currently, there’s no word on a global release, so stay tuned for more updates on that front.
