Every week of December, EA plans to slash the prices of a couple of iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad games to meet its quota of yuletide joy and seasonal merriment.

To kick things off, footy sim FIFA 11 is now an acceptable £1.19 / $1.99 / €1.59, while nude man-punching game MMA is a pocket money 59p / 99c / €0.79c.

As you can see, the pun 'kick things off' works both as the traditional term used to describe the beginning of a football match, and is a standard fighting manoeuvre in the brutal full combat wrestling sport of Mixed Martial Arts. That’s how we roll at Pocket Gamer, working on multiple levels like a quantum elevator.

FIFA 11 has 500 teams drawn from real leagues, and lets you play through seasonal leagues or just have a wee kick-about in quick match. It’s Retina display compatible too, but the top notch graphics means it won’t run on older devices. Check the iTunes description before jumping in.

MMA has 20 real life pugilists, and a deep Career mode with fighter customisation. There are arenas from around the globe and different types and styles of designated tussle-areas: circular rings, boxing style rings, and the classic hexagon. It’s also got Retina display graphics, to see Bas Rutten in all his Dutch beauty.

There will be more sales next week.
