Marvel Contest of Champions adds Spider-Man Supreme and The Spot in latest update

Strange things have been happening in Marvel Contest of Champions. Past updates have seen the addition of characters like Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, but what about an amalgamation of these two popular heroes?

You heard that right. Marvel Contest of Champions’ latest update, Arachnophobia, introduces the insanely powerful Spider-Man Supreme and a speckled force of evil, The Spot. The Spider-Verse is in peril, and only the Summoner and Spider-Man can help Spider-Man Supreme get to the bottom of all this.

Of course, things aren’t always what they seem with a being as powerful as Spider-Supreme, but that web can only be unravelled in Arachnophobia. Here’s a little run down of these two new characters in case you haven’t heard about them before.

Spider-Supreme’s origins are not too different from Earth-616’s Peter Parker. Instead of a radioactive spider, it’s one that comes from an ancient artefact, that caused Peter’s psyche to bind with the Spider-Verse. Then, with the help of the Ancient One, Parker managed to hone his skills and became a force to be reckoned with, Spider-Man Supreme.

Our villain, The Spot gets his name quite literally. He originally was an MIT doctorate, Jonathan Ohnn, who was using Darkforce Energy to generate portals. Jonathan did manage to do this, but the portal’s instability caused him to get sucked into it and out into the Spotted Dimension.

He managed to get back, but with black spots all over his body. And these spots, allowed him to travel instantly through space, ultimately leading him to become The Spot, the leader of an intergalactic criminal enterprise.

Halloween is a time of spookiness and what better than a little fear of spiders? Spider-Supreme drops in on October 6th while The Spot will be available from October 18th onwards. Find out more information about this update on the official website.
