Lost Abroad Cafe lets you build your own coffee shop and learn a new language at the same time

Language learning game studio Lost Abroad has officially announced that their first game, Lost Abroad Café, is now in open beta. While the title is still under development, early fans can get their hands on the management sim as a tester and help shape the game by providing valuable feedback during the beta.

In Lost Abroad Café, players can look forward to opening their own coffee shop - the catch is that this cafe is in a different country, and they'll have to master the language there not only to stay afloat but also to purchase the right tools and equipment to grow their business endeavour. They'll need to learn the right words to keep their customers happy too, of course, and it's a unique way for users to learn a new language in a gamified way.

You can take your pick from cities like Mexico City, Paris, Milan, Berlin, Shanghai, Seoul or Kyoto, start off with basic equipment and a simple menu, and learn how to make drinks to keep customer satisfaction at its peak. You can also compete with other learners online by striving for the top spot on the leaderboards.

If that sounds like it's right up your alley (and if you've always been looking for a unique way to learn something new), the open beta for Android, iOS TestFlight, and PC/Mac via itch.io is now currently underway in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, Italian and German.

There's no official release date on mobile just yet though, but for now, you can check out the Steam page for more info while you wait.
