Legends of Runeterra launches Star Guardian event, introducing tons of new cosmetics and more

In a massive collaborative event between all of the titles under the League of Legends umbrella, Riot Games has announced the launch of the Star Guardian event. We’re specifically focusing on the Legends of Runeterra additions here, but feel free to take a peek at the official Star Guardian event website for more information regarding both Wild Rift and the PC League of Legends MOBA if you’re interested to see just how far this singular event expands.

The Star Guardian event, regardless of the game, is heavily inspired by classic 90s anime series like Sailor Moon or Utena. Think of the typical magical girl anime trope and you’re on the money. As for what this means for Runeterra, you can expect everything from Star Guardian-themed card skins, Guardians, and even boards as well.

To get a bit more specific, we’ll go over each. First up, the skins being added are Star Guardian Gwen, Kai’Sa, Jinx, Senna, Quinn, Taliyah, Lulu, and Soraka. Expect that magical girl vibe to be adorned across all of these cards, adding a new vibe and some new effects to them. Star Guardian Kai’Sa specifically is Runeterra’s first legendary skin ever, complete with new card art, voice lines, and even a unique level-up animation. As for the new Guardians, we’ve got Star Guardian Drake and Gwen Doll. Then, the Starlight Stage Legendary Board, which will add that magical anime flair to all of your games as your board background.

Alongside all of these wonderful additions, we’ve also got brand new emotes and card backs up for grabs as well, so there’s plenty to look forward to here. If you’re a Runeterra player, you can expect the new Guardians and these new skins to give the game a whole new vibe for a while, which is very exciting for anime fans who love this theme.
