A brand new 2D retro platformer samurai action game has sliced its way onto Android as of today. Last True Sword puts players in the shoes, or tabi in this case, of a katana-wielding, tengu mask-wearing warrior who must find his way through the world on a path of assassination. As you hunt down the evil King Zangetsu, you’ll unravel his backstory as well as your own and bring justice to the world.

Last True Sword is clearly a narrative-focused adventure, but there’s more to this simple-looking 2D platformer than meets the eye. While the primary manner of play is through this stage-based story mode where you’ll slice apart various foes and level up your character along the way, there’s also quite a bit of different side content that will keep the experience fun and fresh during every hour of play.

Let’s go over the list of modes that will be available on launch, starting with the Duel Mode. This is a series of cinematic one-on-one duels that harken back to classic samurai cinema with a pixel flair. You’ll choose one from a selection of characters, each with different abilities and skills, and try to end your opponent’s life before they get to you first.

Then, we have Eclipse mode. This one’s essentially a survival mode where endless hordes of different enemies will come at you, and your goal is simply to survive each wave until you finish the set amount of rounds.

Finally, we have The Path. This is the most different one, as it plays a lot like an endless runner. You have to jump and run your way through a gauntlet of obstacles, but if you hit one, the run ends, so your dexterity and reflexes will be tested to their very limits.

If all of that sounds great to you, you can give it a go for free at the link below!
