iPhone puzzler Kings of Frogs goes free, does 500,000 downloads

Update adds 100 new puzzles, or get more with IAP

It's a lesson well learned by the industry, and one that's still going strong: Chinese developer Playlithium set its Kings of Frogs puzzle game free (from 99c), and gained 500,000 downloads in a month.

So, making sure it's keeping those new players happy, it's just released a new update, adding 100 new puzzles - 80 in Challenge mode and 20 in Bonus mode - plus a newly revamped tutorial to help newbies learn the rules.

Hopping around

A simple game, similar to checkers and French solitaire, King of Frogs gets you to manoeuvre the king and his loyal band of frogs on the lilypad playfield by hopping them over each other in the right sequences.

As well as the free levels, you can also buy level packs to gain a further 200 levels, plus there's an Endless mode to enjoy.

King of Frogs is available for iPhone and iPad touch now, and it's free.
