Jadu takes AR gameplay to the next level with multiplayer fights in the real world

Every year, smartphones become more and more advanced thanks to the insanely powerful chips they’re fitted with. This has made it possible to play games on mobile that wouldn’t have been possible a few years ago. With AR and VR being touted as the next big thing, it seems like that’s where mobile games may be headed too. Jadu’s aims to showcase exactly that with their latest release.

The Los Angeles-based studio has just launched its newest title, Jadu, a first-of-its-kind multiplayer AR fighting game for Android and iOS. Players need not be confined by the boundaries present in most games as the world is now their battlefield. Jadu transforms your surrounding physical world into an arena where avatars fight remote opponents all over the globe.

It’s like playing Street Fighter but in the real world. All players will be able to create their own avatars which will engage in thrilling battles with others. Matches happen in real time and can take place between friends as well as random players from different parts of the world.

For those who prefer a solo experience, Jadu also features a single-player campaign which involves fighting alien robots and was designed in collaboration with the mind behind Transformers, Michael Bay. Players will also find Hoverboards created alongside Lewis Hamilton, Grimes, and Snoop Dogg.

Speaking about their project, Jadu CEO & Founder Asad J. Malik, commented: “After 7 years building AR projects, we finally feel like we’ve created a truly spatial experience that is also widely accessible to the next generation of gamers who’ve grown up on smartphones. Fighting the ghostly presence of a remote player in your physical space is an experience that has tickled the imagination of our beta players.”
