Indie publisher Bitmap Soft along with developers Bryan Taylor and Tom Lockwood have officially opened pre-order sign-ups for the physical cartridge of In the Dark. The sci-fi retro puzzle game for the Nintendo Game Boy Color lets players solve conundrums with the end goal of turning off all the lights.

In the Dark features a hundred curated puzzles in the Story Mode along with more than 500 hundred possible combinations in the Random Mode. Players will have to investigate a mysterious distress signal in the Rigel system in a cruiser-class ship that's orbiting a barren planet.

The game also features a ticking time bomb element in the form of the ship's backup power - players will have to solve the puzzles in a 3x3 format and bypass locks before the power goes out completely. The title takes players on three to five hours of gameplay with unlockable Palette Variants, Super Game Boy support with custom SGB Border, Save Game (with a Data Clear function), nostalgic retro graphics and more.

If you're keen on experiencing the game for yourself and challenging your intellectual prowess, you can pre-order In the Dark on the official Sales page or you can download the Game Boy ROM via Itch.io.
