Honeycomb: Word Puzzle is a vocabulary-testing puzzler from the developers of Hexicon, now available for iOS and Android

Spiralburst Studios, the team behind Hexicon and Maracaibo Digital, has released a new word puzzler for iOS and Android. It's called Honeycomb: Word Puzzle and the developers have described it as a spin-off to Hexicon, with a focus on solo play rather than multiplayer.

The premise of Honeycomb is quite simple but can prove tricky in practice. Each level presents a hex-based grid filled with letters. Some of them will be coloured in, which represents the start of a word. It's then up to you to find as many words as there are coloured tiles. But it's not just any word that will do. All hexagons must be coloured in to clear the level.

There are over 500 levels to complete, with varying difficulties to challenge your vocabulary skills. Some of the puzzles have a theme, such as animals or baking. It should make things easier since you'll know the types of words you're searching for. Meanwhile, other levels have no theme, making them much trickier to figure out.

Despite promising a few challenges, Honeycomb aims to be a relaxing experience while working out your brain. There's even a cute bee that will celebrate whenever you overcome a level. I'm assuming it's happy for you anyway. Otherwise, its appearance suddenly seems all the more worrisome.

In addition to the existing 500 levels, Honeycomb has a Daily Challenge mode, which presents three puzzles to overcome. There is also a Puzzle Maker, allowing you to create hex-based word conundrums to send to your pals.

It also includes a few accessibility features, which are always great to see. They are the High Contrast Colours Mode and Textured Tiles Mode.
