Hip Hop All Star scratches onto iPhone

Star-studded beat matching in the palm of your hand

Hip Hop All Star scratches onto iPhone

I-play’s hip hop flavoured beat matching title Hip Hop All Star has been released onto the App Store. It’s a major effort from the publisher, featuring the endorsement and direct involvement of a number of high profile hip hop artists, including Busta Rhymes, Kid Cudi and DJ Green Lantern (Eminem’s DJ).

The game has already impressed in its mobile iteration, but the unique control input of the iPhone allows you to go hands on with the decks, scratching the music in real-time during certain sections. The rest of the game plays a little like Guitar Hero, with timed commands travelling along one of three coloured lines – although this time it’s around the curved edge of a spinning record rather than along the fret board of a guitar.

The game also allows head-to-head showdowns with wi-fi and BlueTooth DJ battle modes and an integrated Facebook Connect mode for posting and bragging about your scores.

Once you’re familiar with the ten included tracks in the game, you’ll be able to purchase the Hip Hop All Star Track Pack that includes two additional songs for £0.59/$0.99. The game itself is selling at an introductory price of £1.79/$2.99, so hip hop over to the App Store soon if you fancy yourself a superstar DJ.

Here’s a taster of the game in action:
