PGC Helsinki 2016: Kill zombies with your ball skills in Header Goal VR
Coming soon to Oculus Rift and Steam
Header Goal VR is a realistic football physics simulator in which you have to head balls at targets to get a high score.
Well, I say realistic, but then you are playing for an alien header team and have to fight off a zombie invasion using your header skills - perhaps we were a bit hasty.
Nonetheless, Header Goal VR was a fun football simulator that felt very close to the real thing. If you've ever headed a ball in real life, it'll feel instantly comfortable as you physically direct the goal towards the targets using your head and neck muscles.
It serves up a decent challenge as well - so much so that in my first ever attempt I got no points despite having well over 20 balls to direct at the targets. It was pretty shameful really.
Aside from the gameplay, Header Goal VR also has quite a meaty tale to tell. You play as shamed footballer Axel Rix, who's kicked out of the England squad after developing a poor attitude. He didn't perform particularly well in a few games and got frustrated after the fans turned on him.
Following this, he decides to train extra hard to work his way back into the team, and starts with his headers. While training, an extraterrestrial named Scars talent spots him for his own alien team. Their form of football involves only heading, you see.
So Rix joins his team and the rest, as they say, is history. And that history involves aliens and a zombie invasion. Cripes!
Header Goal VR is a lot of fun and you can experience it for yourself very soon when it launches on the Oculus Rift Store or Steam, exclusively for VR.
