It would seem that Future Friends Games, the publisher behind CloverPit and the recently announced Slots & Daggers, have found something of a niche for themselves with Balatro-likes and incremental games. And their latest, Greedy Greedy Gnomes, from developer Nautlander, offers much of the same gradual, income-building appeal of CloverPit too.
The gameplay of Greedy Greedy Gnomes is relatively simple: tap on a pot and make money. Of course, what seems straightforward quickly grows in complexity, especially as you begin unlocking new houses full of pots, building up their value and hiring gnomes to help out with the breaking, all as you work your way towards a fortune.
Incremental gains
Obviously, the appeal here is the 'numbers go up' style of strategy. There's nothing really stopping you from growing your income, and therein lies the appeal as you try to optimise your supply chains and ensure that you can reach that enticing billionaire status.Available on Google Play for $3.99, Greedy Greedy Gnomes is also the product of a single developer from Brazil. And if you followed my coverage of Gamescom LatAm, you'll know that I found much of the excitement from that event came from the interesting and exciting game concepts being developed there.
Greedy Greedy Gnomes is undoubtedly going to be the favourite of many of you, especially those looking for a new incremental game. But I'm curious as to whether this is going to be the theme for Future Friends going forward, and whether or not they might be oversaturating themselves a bit. We'll just have to wait and see how it's received!
