Fancy choosing the soundtrack of your handheld games?

It's the Loose Threads weekend reminder

Fancy choosing the soundtrack of your handheld games?
|

Nokia's Reset Generation has set a fantastic precedent for mobile games now by enlisting the talents of 8 bit Weapon to score the game. As far as I can recall, no other handheld game, let alone a mobile title, has ever hired a proper counter-culture band to do a full score.

So it got me to thinking.

Sure, games like WipEout Pure / Pulse and the odd EA Sports effort have had licensed soundtracks comprised of various artists, but it's not the same thing as a specifically recorded score.

So, what do you think about this? Is this something you would like to see more of, and if so, what bands would you like to see score which games?
There are few topics that divide people as vehemently as music does. One man/woman's Brian Eno is another's Bony M (a sly wink to this week's hot comment topic, methinks).

Naturally, folks are the same when it comes to the games they favour, too, which means that a Loose Threads topic on the subject of game soundtracks should generate something that resembles a war as much as a discussion.

Personally I'd like to see Belle and Sebastian or maybe the Postal Service score LocoRoco 2. Or what about Daft Punk lending their talents to a quirky Digital Chocolate offering?

This is a bit more of an open discussion topic than many of the others we've had over the last few months. So go ahead and get opinionated - that's what forums are for!

Oh yeah, and do enjoy your weekend.
