Engage Kill, a new gacha RPG from Square Enix, launches for Japanese audiences

Square Enix has announced that they’ve launched their latest mobile game for Japanese audiences: Engage Kill. This new gacha RPG based on the multimedia project that’s developed by hit production studio Aniplex, Project Engage, features a colourful cast of characters alongside an engaging turn-based 3D combat style along with a retelling of most of the core scenes from the project.
Project Engage is very likely an unknown name to most anyone reading this, as it’s not exactly popular. Multimedia anime-based projects tend to stay under the radar as is, but even for this type of thing, Project Engage is quite underground. This is for two reasons: it was created only in July of last year, and there are only 13 episodes of an anime and this game so far. It’s not a huge expansive world, but it’s seen some popularity amongst fans of the fantastical modern setting, so this game release is quite exciting regardless.

With super cool character designs and that unique setting of a modern world with high fantasy magic spread about, there’s a lot to dig here. It lands somewhere between Darker Than Black and the popular Fate series to me simply by aesthetics. If you’re a fan of those series, definitely give this one a shot.
As for the game, it’s a relatively traditional turn-based affair, with awesome skill animations for the big abilities alongside 3D arenas, characters, and enemies. As you collect more characters, you’ll get to see what animations their skills have and enjoy the beautiful visuals for each of their moves. If you play gacha games, you know what you’re getting into at the end of the day.
If all of that sounds good to you, and you’re located in Japan, you can currently download Engage Kill for free at either of the links below!
