Disgaea 1 Complete, a remake of Nippon Ichi's over-the-top RPG, is available now for iOS and Android

As reported by Gematsu, Nippon Ichi Software have released Disgaea 1 Complete for iOS and Android today, seemingly out of nowhere. It's a remake of the original game with several new features that are designed with the mobile player in mind.

For instance, you can switch on auto-battling if you'd rather let the game do all of the grinding for you. However, if you'd still prefer to do it all yourself, you'd just like it to play a tad quicker there's an option called Battle Speed Boost which allows you to play the game between 1 and 8 times the normal speed. Hearing about that feature gives me fond memories of Dodrio Speed on Pokemon Stadium.

Beyond that, it's the same version that was previously available on Nintendo Switch. It has improved, HD visuals and contains all of the DLC that was released for the original version of the game. There also some smaller quality of life improvements you'll notice if you've extensively played the original.

If you're unfamiliar with Disgaea as a series it's a tactical RPG that follows Laharl as he tries to reclaim his place as the king of the Netherworld. You see, his father died during a 2-year nap he decided to take so a bunch of demons have been battling for supremacy of the realm in that time. It possesses an off-kilter sense of humour with plenty of meta jokes thrown in.

The most likely thing to grab people's attention when looking at this port of the game though will be the price. On both the App Store and Google Play Disgaea 1 Complete is available for £31.99, which is a fairly high amount compared to what mobile gamers are used to.
