Clash Royale celebrates 6 year anniversary with reward handouts

The ever so successful mobile PVP strategy title Clash Royale celebrated its 6th birthday on March 2nd and followed up that celebration with some in-game goodies for players.

To celebrate this year's birthday, developer Supercell is planning a large swath of rewards that will roll out over the month, starting with today’s free emote that you can claim simply by logging in. While the other rewards haven’t been discussed yet, we do know they are planned, so expect to see even more birthday-themed items and potentially even free currency to be handed out.

After launching in 2016, following the footsteps of the equally successful predecessor, Clash of Clans, Clash Royale saw immense success nearly immediately. Despite the small nuances, both play relatively the same as real-time strategy games, so Clash Royale saw a large migration of already loyal Clash of Clans fans, causing it to explode in popularity. With a score of 86/100 on Metacritic, the largest video game review aggregation website, Clash Royale still sees a massive player base and typically tops the top paid apps page consistently in the U.S.

Clash Royale is also technically a spin-off from Clash of Clans alongside their other sibling games, Clash Quest, Clash Mini, and Clash Heroes, which were all announced in April last year but have yet to be fully detailed or released yet. Despite waiting for news on their end, the Clash universe has grown so impressively that it’s safe to say those games will see just as much success and cement themselves as mainstays on mobile much like both Clans and Royale have done in the past few years.

If you’d like to get involved with these birthday celebration shenanigans and claim some of these free rewards, be sure to log into the game during the month or if you’re looking to get started, download Clash Royale for free on the App Store or Google Play.
