This is, quite literally, a tower with a wizard on top.
But this isn't your Gandalf-the-Grey goody type. This wizard's not a happy bunny, inflicting quick, powerful splash damage on any air- and ground-based troops that come within its (albeit limited) range.

Damage Type: Area splash (1 tile)

Size Requirement: 3x3 tiles
Defensive tactics
While the Wizard Tower is similar in nature to the Mortar, without the limitations of the latter's blind spot and slow firing rate, its considerably shorter range make it a great support-based defensive unit rather than an all-out solution for the protection of your village.
Use it as an effective way to keep air attacks from striking Cannons, as well as significantly reducing the numbers within charging hordes.

Offensive tactics
The easiest way to overwhelm a Wizard Tower is to surround it with troops, thereby reducing the number of casualties you'll incur from splash damage.
Resorting to meat shields (Giants or P.E.K.K.A.s) to draw the fire while your own Wizards take care of business is another option.
