Chariot Rivals lets you relive the bloody good fun of the Roman circus
- Chariot Rivals is out now on iOS, offering a ragdoll-fuelled take on chariot racing
- Dash around the circus, evading rivals and avoiding bloody, catastrophic crashes
- From Towering Tower, the folks behind the equally vibrant and violent Knight Lancer
It may seem unbelievable now, but back during antiquity, the world of arenas and circuses was pretty similar to our modern athletic competitions. Well, albeit with more blood and death, as Chariot Rivals so aptly demonstrates. Available now on iOS, it comes to us from the same folks behind the equally hard-hitting (and brutal) Knight Lancer!
In Chariot Rivals, you'll (naturally) hop behind the reins of your own chariot and take on the circus maximus, or something like it. But this isn't horse racing, and every twist and turn can turn into a deadly pileup that sends you careening out of your chariot and onto the sand. It's all in good fun though... probably.

Rival racers
There's not much to be said about Chariot Rivals that already isn't evident from the description and the trailer. Much like Knight Lancer and its recreation of the fun and violence of jousting, Chariot Rivals adds a healthy dose of brutality to the spectacle of chariot racing.Unfortunately, if, like me, you're on Android, this is another time when the devs at Towering Tower are only bringing their game to iOS. So it might be worth keeping your eyes peeled for an Android release, but don't hold your breath for now.
Still, for iOS players you'll be able to have a crack at Chariot Rivals for yourself, with it being free to try. I reckon that if you're looking for some sword-and-sandal style action set in the blood and heat of antiquity, you'll find plenty to enjoy in Chariot Rivals!
In the meantime, though, if you're not on iOS or are simply looking for something else to play, then (surprise, surprise) we've got plenty of suggestions! Just take a look at our list of the five new mobile games to try this week for some of our recommendations from the last seven days!
