Buried Stars makes reality TV murder in this newly released mystery adventure

Have you got the X factor?

Buried Stars makes reality TV murder in this newly released mystery adventure
  • Buried Stars is out now on iOS, bringing a showbiz twist to an adventure thriller
  • Ending up trapped in a studio during auditions, you need to figure out who the murderer is
  • Use social media to guide you, interact with a varied cast and enjoy both a Japanese and Korean cast

There's a whole debate to be had about the cruelty of reality TV and how it (ironically) distorts reality for the sake of entertainment. But it could always be worse; you could be buried inside a studio with a murderer hunting you. You know, it happens to all of us at some point. Oh, and incidentally, Buried Stars is out now on iOS!

Arriving from Line Games, the folks behind Hello Kitty Friends Match, this is no cosy puzzler. In Buried Stars, you play as one of a number of contestants participating in auditions for a live survival show. However, when the roof collapses in on the studio, trapping you and the others inside, a murderer stalking the cast begins picking them off one by one.

It's a classic locked room set-up with a showbiz twist, blending in adventure mechanics, mystery and a little bit of visual novel to boot.

Oh, and that showbiz angle isn't just there for the gimmick either. You'll be able to keep track of how the online audience reacts as the cameras keep rolling by checking your social media and timeline. Those comments not only offer further context to the chaos, but also crucial clues that could help you survive.

For completionists, there are multiple routes and endings to explore, while audiophiles can enjoy a dense soundtrack featuring a gripping main theme, as well as a voice cast for both Japanese and Korean audiotracks. Suffice it to say, if you're a fan of stuff like Danganronpa or Corpse Party, Buried Stars might just be the next big hit you've been waiting for.

And if you do get a taste for the adventure genre from Buried Stars, it's well worth checking in on our list of the best adventure games on iOS to see what else is out there!
