Solo indie developer Kyle Barret, creator of Immortal Rogue, has revealed a brand new update for his most recent work: Blast Waves. Released roughly a year ago, this top-down shooter sees you do battle against hordes of aliens as you progressively upgrade your character, and with this new update, there are even more of those upgrades to unlock as well as a brand new planet to do battle upon!

Blast Waves is a nice small little indie project, including some really cool pixelated visuals combined with a banging soundtrack full of intense synthwave and pulsating beats-style music to keep the energy pumping.

Gameplay-wise, Blast Waves tasks you as a space marine of sorts, dropping onto various planets to battle hordes of alien foes. As you progress through the game, you’ll unlock tons of new stuff, ranging from weapons to armour to brand-new characters as well. Each of these unlocks changes the way your character plays, making their explosions larger or their guns shoot larger bullets, or even making your character focused on becoming a melee killing machine!

Now, with the latest update, you’ll be able to take the battle to a brand-new planet which features new foes as well as a brand-new visual style to the world. Along with this, there are also 10 new weapons to unlock, one of which is confirmed to be a dang laser bazooka, as if you needed more reason to play this game.

Finally, this update also adds the highly requested endless survival mode, allowing you to square off against an unlimited amount of foes as they swarm your screen until they finally overwhelm you.

Overall, Blast Waves is a, if you’ll pardon the pun, blast to play, and you owe it to yourself to give it a go. Currently, you can purchase it at a discounted price of $2.99 at either of the links below!
