Blast Waves, a new tactical arcade shooter, is out now on iOS and Android
Kyle Barrett, the solo developer behind Immortal Rogue, has just announced the official release of his latest endeavor: Blast Waves. The tactical arcade shooter tasks players with building and organizing a squad of brave souls in the midst of an intergalactic conflict.
Blast Waves features a unique mechanic where time moves only when you do. The roguelike Survival Mode challenges you to survive massive sci-fi battles as a grunt, picking up weapons, armor, and gadgets along the way. You'll also have to learn different enemy troop types and master destructible terrain.
While the environments can be unforgiving, those who make it through are unlocked as permanently playable Squad Commanders, who will then lead their own squads in the auto-battler-like Command Mode. Controls are as simple as pathing to move, holding to crouch, and dragging to shoot, with tap-to-target schemes and holotags that keep a record of each character's adventures.
