AutoChess MOBA is shutting down its servers at the end of February
Another game bites the dust as developer Dragonest has just made an announcement on Twitter stating that it will shut down the servers for mobile MOBA, AutoChess. The title was a highly anticipated one, offering 5v5 PvP in arena-based combat. However, it barely made it through the soft launch stage and is already being taken down.
The developers penned a detailed note regarding the various reasons that brought them to this decision. AutoChess MOBA has been plagued by lags, ping issues, network disconnection, and long matchmaking times despite all the polishing it received. Since no amount of fixing really solves these problems, abandoning the game was the only option left.
Beginning today, January 30th, DLCs will be removed from all platforms alongside disabling in-app purchases and the top-up system. On February 6th, the title will be removed from all app stores with all its functions on Pocket Dragonest being inactivated and the official website terminated. The developers have also taken steps to ensure that all virtual currency transactions are settled before the servers close. This will, however, require players to create a Dragonest account before February 28th. On successfully linking a third-party account to this will then transfer all Donuts obtained via top-ups and exchanges to the Dragonest account. The game will not be allowed after the server shutdown and then all Donuts will be lost.
Another important thing to take note of is that this isn’t exactly the end of the line for AutoChess MOBA. The message also states that the team is currently working on creating a more satisfying product, which means that it should relaunch once a sufficiently stable version of the game is made. Hopefully, that improvement will be able to stick.
