Amanita Design has launched Samorost for mobile devices with newly remastered assets. It is now available to play on iOS and Android.

Originally released in 2003, Samorost was an adventure game where you played as a tiny gnome, exploring a strange world, solving puzzles and interacting with the unique things that populate this land. It featured odd graphics take from real-life photos which added to the uneasiness of it, but also helped to mould an identity out of the series.

Samorost was revealed to be coming to mobile recently by Jakub Dvorsky, the creator of the original game. This also means the entire series is now available on mobile after Samorost 2 and 3 were released for iOS and Android previously for a small price.

This new remastered version of Samorost features enhanced graphics, new sounds, and new music by Floex. In terms of accolades, the original game was nominated for the Top Talent Award 2003 and the Webby Award 2004, and it seems like this new version of the game brings it in line with modern expectations of Amanita’s trademark weirdness.

If you’ve always been curious about the Samorost series but have never thought about checking it out properly until now, the release of the first game on mobile may just be the perfect time to hop on.

You can download Samorost now from the iOS App Store and the Google Play for Android store, where it is a free to play game with no adverts or in-app purchases.
