Genshin Impact, developer miHoYo's long-awaited open-world RPG, is set to launch for iOS, Android, and PC before October. The news first arrived over on the game's official site (thanks, Gematsu).

This gorgeous, anime-inspired fantasy epic first drew attention for its similarities to Breath of the Wild, though since then, it's gradually revealed itself to be one of the most promising mobile RPGs in some time.

Its final beta test kicked off earlier this month, giving players a chance to explore its vibrant and expansive world. It's easily among the best-looking games we've seen on mobile to date, but it was the exploration elements, story, and combat that left me most intrigued.

I've now participated in two beta tests – once on Android, then on console. On both occasions, I've very much enjoyed my time spent with it. And I'm not alone, with resident anime expert Dave having previewed the game very positively, saying "Genshin Impact is a game that does so much right. An unbelievable amount, in fact. As long as this game runs on your mobile device, you should consider it to be an absolute essential."

It's therefore great to hear that the game is set to launch within the next couple of months. An exact release date will eventually be shared through miHoYo's official channels.

Some recommended devices for the earlier beta included any Android phone with a Snapdragon 865/855plus/855/845 or Kirin 990/980 processor. And on the iOS side: iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, iPad Pro 3, iPad Pro 11 Inch, iPad Air 3, iPad Mini 5, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and the iPhone SE (A13, 2nd Gen).

Remember that these are only recommended specs for the closed beta, and device optimisation is always an ongoing process.
