Developer Rusty Lake is celebrating its 5th anniversary in the best way possible by releasing a free remake of its cult-classic puzzler, Samsara Room. A popular precursor to the Rusty Lake and Cube Escape games, it sees you attempting to escape a strange room by solving puzzles and gradually becoming "enlightened".

Most of your time will be spent investigating your strange surroundings and interacting with objects dotted around the room. Household objects become tricky conundrums to crack, including a telephone, mirror, and grandfather clock.

This new version has been "completely re-assembled", offering all-new puzzles, story bits, and visuals. Complimenting the odd atmosphere is its soundtrack from composer Victor Butzelaar.

Rusty Lake's later games drew in a huge number of players and generally earned positive reviews, including from us lot. Most recently, Jon reviewed Cube Escape: Paradox for us, calling it "compellingly atmospheric stuff", before awarding it a solid Bronze Rating.

If you're nostalgic for the original or never got around to giving it a go, you'll find the remake of Samsara Room available right now for free on the App Store, Google Play, Steam, and itch.io.

I missed this one the first time around, so I'll definitely be checking it out to see how it compares to Rusty Lake's more recent output. I'm getting strong The White Door vibes from its shadowy figures, and if anyone knows how to do a decent, unnerving room escape game, it's the fine folks over at Rusty Lake.

In need of some decent puzzlers to while away the hours? Well, you're in luck! Here are 25 of the best for iPhone & iPad
