The Everpurse, a clutch that charges your smartphone, turns to Kickstarter for funding
Purse-uing excellence
With all of the various options available for charging a smartphone on the go, few manufacturers have attempted to combine functionality with aesthetics to create a fashionable product that looks as good as it works.
The US-based startup Everpurse is looking to remedy this oversight with a clutch bag that charges your favourite smartphone via a built-in dock connector, thus eliminating the need for wires or bulky cases.
The Everpurse is designed to charge an iPhone 4, iPhone 5, and a to-be-released list of Android handsets including the Samsung Galaxy S3. Each fully charged Everpurse should supply enough juice to charge a depleted iPhone from 0 to 100 per cent twice in the span of a day.
When the Everpurse itself is in need of charging, you can once again skip the wires. It replenishes its built-in battery inductively via a charging mat.
Useful in a clutchSome skeptics may scoff at the perceived need for an item like the Everpurse, but a quick look at the history of the company's Kickstarter campaign should silence such critics.
After launching its campaign in the middle of September, the Everpurse shot clear past its $100,000 goal in less than a week. At time of writing, its Kickstarter has raised over $132,000 and still has 24 days left in its lifecycle.
The retail price of the Everpurse is $175.00, but early backers can secure one for a pledge of $129.00.
