Rumour: Photograph reveals front panel of Apple's upcoming 4-inch iPhone 5

Over the past few weeks and months, several websites have released photographs and videos of purported iPhone 5 components and parts.

Chinese blog Apple.pro has posted a photo of what is believed to be - for the first time - the front panel of Apple's next iPhone iteration. It looks a lot like the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, albeit with a slightly larger 4-inch touchscreen.

The iPhone's FaceTime camera has also been moved to a central position slightly above the phone's speaker.

Ready to go

The other rumour, which cites "reliable Chinese sources", suggests that production of the iPhone 5 has just begun in China.

As always, we take all Apple rumours with a large pinch of salt, but this one originally comes from Japanese Apple blog Macotakara, which accurately reported on the launch dates of the iPhone 4S and iPad 3 before they were officially announced.

According to this rumour, the upcoming iPhone 5 will sport an aluminium back panel, just like recent rumours have suggested. However, it will also feature a "partial glass design".

The iPhone is generally released around two months after its production begins, which would mean we'll see Apple's next smartphone on store shelves this September.

Know Your Mobile thinks it will launch on August 7th.
