Apple confirms 'future product transition' in September quarter, signalling possible debut of iPhone 5
|

Every three months, Apple reports on the number of iPhones, iPads, iPod touchs, and Macs it's sold that quarter, and on how many squillions of dollars those products have generated.

Straight afterwards, The Big A hosts a conference call with members of the press and analysts, which is normally full of indecipherable numbers and figures, and is therefore dull as ditchwater.

Not so on this occasion, for during last night's earnings call Apple CFO Peter Offenheimer dropped the biggest hint yet that an iPhone 5 will launch in September.

"As we announced at WWDC, we have a lot going on in the fall with the introduction of iOS 5 and iCloud. We also have a future product transition that we’re not going to talk about today, and these things will impact our September quarter."

So, there you have it. September will be a busy month for Apple with its "future product transition" surely being the iPhone 5.

This tallies with recent rumours about suppliers preparing for the next-gen iPhone’s arrival in September.
