Compete released its quarterly Smartphone Intelligence survey today, with results reflecting the extent to which gaming has become a large part of the iPhone’s appeal.

The survey found that 51 per cent of iPhone users have at least five separate games on their devices, with 37 per cent of owners playing daily. Puzzle games are cited as one of the most popular genres for the iOS crowd.

On the flip-side, 46 per cent of Blackberry users have no games at all on their devices.

Danielle Nohe, director, technology and entertainment for Compete says, "it’s evident that iPhone owners have embraced mobile gaming" and called upon developers to try and "even out the discrepancies in mobile gaming adoption" on other systems.

The survey, conducted using online clickstream data, doesn’t state the sample size.
