iPhone hardware upgrade could include new graphics processor
And could be with us by July
Rumours of a hardware upgrade for the iPhone are old news these days, but Kotaku has apparently heard from one of its sources that a new version will boast a built-in 3D graphics chip and make use of a new high-speed data network (in the US, at least).
There are no specifications on this graphics chip, though it does fall in line with previous rumours that Apple is planning to manufacture its own range of semiconductors.
There's also talk of better use of Bluetooth, allowing the addition of new peripherals such as a keyboard or game controller.
This new model is supposedly to arrive on July 17th at the same time as the 3.0 software is rolled out, which, if true, will make for a very big day for Apple.
On top of all this is the suggestion that Apple has begun hiring its own game developers, meaning we could be seeing some first party titles with a pretty much unlimited budget before too much longer.
Keep a close eye on Pocket Gamer next week as we bring you live updates of Apple's World Wide Developers Conference where we hope many of these rumours will find a home.
