Addictive, government-approved iPhone game Angry Birds has received a massive update, available for download from iTunes or your favourite iOS device, right now.

Up first is Game Center support, letting you unlock achievements and compete in leaderboards through Apple’s official gaming hub. Don’t worry - all your achievements and scores you’ve already got in Crystal will be carried straight over.

The game also packs in new and improved high resolution graphics for devices packing the Retina display screen. Gamers on iPhone 4 or the fourth-generation iPod touch will notice that most of the game’s graphics have been remade with lush new visuals.

The update also adds yet another batch of new stages. These 15 fresh levels should give any Angry Birds addict a few more hours of fun. There’s also a new Golden Egg sound board to unlock.

Finally, the game has had a few tweaks to optimise memory usage, as well as localisation for English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese.

Talk about value for money. If you still haven’t got on the bandwagon, you’re only 59p / 99c / €0.79c away from almost 200 stages of bird-catapulting addiction.
