Always telling your friends that there was a genre of music between Gary Numan and Devo that was just waiting to be discovered and exploited, but you were just laughed off as a fool and a dreamer?

Hmm, maybe that's just me then.

Either way, you can now enter the exciting world of music creation with new iPhone app 120 BPM from Little Worlds Studio.

There are in-game tools you can use to create tracks, using five simultaneous tracks, but more intriguingly you can record your own sounds – be it your warbling in the shower, radio static or the crunching of tin foil – and then mix them into your music, Joe Meek style. This feature does, of course, depend on whether you have recording capabilities on your iPhone/iPod touch.

Rocking all over the world

You can then subject your friends to your musical mishmashes by uploading them onto Facebook. There's also an option to look over a world map and listen to 120 BPM creations from across the globe.

If you think you have what it takes to re-awaken the music industry from its current slumber, you can buy the app right now at the cost of 59p, 99c, or €0.79. The electro genre is already included in the music creation options, but to add the funk, dance and pop-rock genres, you have to pay an extra download charge. You can get some idea how it works in the following video.
