Tencent’s highly anticipated open-world apocalypse simulator Undawn has announced that it will host a closed beta test for select regions come April 3rd of this year. On top of this, the game has also officially launched within China, and gamers within that region specifically can get a headstart on it right now!

Undawn seeks to take an MMO-like experience within a post-apocalyptic world and transfer it right to our pockets, with gorgeous 3D visuals and a full suite of both multiplayer and single-player options. Whether it’s teaming up with your friends to slay some mutants or going solo to complete a variety of challenges all by yourself, there are quite a few different ways to enjoy Undawn as a whole.

The gameplay itself is a third-person shooter style of play and also features lots of other mechanics such as base building, survival systems, and a gorgeous open world to explore all at your leisure. Frankly, the game seems quite hefty with content, with the official website showing off screenshots of driveable cars, vast open canyons, and massive swaths of zombie-like enemies swarming you.

As for what weaponry you’ll be using, you can expect a large arsenal of guns and melee weaponry to utilize as you do battle against any opponent, be those zombies or regular ol’ humans. There are crossbows, assault rifles, shotguns, and your typical post-apocalyptic stuff. As you build out your character, you’ll start to figure out which weapons feel right to you and find your favourite.

Undawn is one of the more highly anticipated releases dropping this year, so get ahead and sign up for the closed beta at the official website linked above. In the meantime, stay tuned for that April 3rd launch date so you can be the first one jumping into this survival shooter MMO hybrid!
