Tucker Ray in: Rednecks vs Zombies lurches on to iPhone

"Zombies love brains – that’s a universal fact. So it’s a bit ironic that these zombies have risen in a place where, frankly, there aren’t a lot of brains to be found,” says Joseph Walters, co-founder of Frozen Giant and lead developer of Tucker Ray In: Rednecks vs Zombies.

And he has a point - given their desire to consume this delicacy, you’d have thought they might choose a well-to-do area where people read the FT and regularly watch Question Time, rather than a trailer park.

In this twin-stick shooter, the eponymous hero must clear out his park and surrounding farmland of the undead, in order to rescue his sweetheart, Bobby Sue. Armed to the hilt with a shotgun and exploding squirrel launcher, he sets about his task with aplomb.

We haven't played it, so we can't tell you whether it's any good or not, but Rednecks vs Zombies uses its stereotypes well, packing in humorous caricatures, amusingly themed weapons, and trucker hat power-ups.

If you can empathise with Tucker’s plight, the
game can be downloaded from the App Store now for £1.19 ($1.99)
