Trinity Trigger brings old-school JRPG action to mobile, out now
Pull my trinity trigger

- Trinity Trigger is out now on iOS and Android
- It brings old-school JRPG action, inspired by 90s classics, to mobile
- Switch between eight weapon types on the fly and build your party comp to take on dank dungeons
When I say, "old school JRPG," you may think of something such as the first Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy 1. But, bad news, even stuff from the 90s is now over a quarter-of-a-century old, so by emulating those days of yore, the newly released mobile JRPG Trinity Trigger is technically old school!
The passage of years aside, some of you may recognise Trinity Trigger. Originally released for consoles in 2022 courtesy of Xseed Games, it's now finally made its way to mobile. You play as Cyan, a young man designed as a Warrior Chaos, doomed to an inevitable clash with the Warrior of Order.
In a quest to discover the true meaning behind this destined battle, Cyan strikes out into the world accompanied by his friends Elise and Zantis. Determined to defy fate, they explore the world of Trinitia to do just that and, maybe, save the world.

To do so, Cyan, Elise and Zantis are accompanied by the titular creatures known as Triggers. Not just mere companions, these little beasties will transform into the weapons you wield, allowing you to switch up your abilities and party comp on the fly to deal with each situation.
With its mixture of anime cutscenes, vast variety of biomes to explore and the requisite cast of quirky JRPG NPCs to encounter, Trinity Trigger is a firm example of the genre. But with its distinctive mechanics that provide a fresh spin for sceptical newcomers, and plenty to enjoy for longtime fans, there's no reason not to give it a try.
In the meantime, you may think we don't tend to cover some of the more interesting examples of mobile releases out there. So if you want to make your voice heard, why not get involved with nominations for the 2025 edition of the Pocket Gamer People's Choice Awards?
