iPhone WWI tactical battler Trenches gets a free-to-play version
Ads for victory

Demonstrating that freemium is the business model du jour, even on Apple's App Store, US developer Thunder Game Works has released a new free-to-play version of its popular Trenches game.
Called Trenches Free For All, it provides all the functionality of the original 99c game, including campaigns and skirmish mode plus GameCenter, global multiplayer, voice chat and friend invites - supported by in-game ads.
Over the topAs for the basic gameplay, that remains the same too, with you playing as either the English or the Germans, fighting across WWI battlefields, marching across the screen to capture the enemy's spawn point, unlocking more unit types as you get more in-game cash.
Of course, as a game with adverts, you can pay 99c, €0.79 or 59p to remove them if you so desire, and in future, the studio is looking to launch in-app purchases.
Trenches Free For All is available now for iPhone.
You can see how the game plays in multiplayer mode in the following video.
