In the topsy-turvy world of developing games on a system without buttons, traditional genres either get chucked out or heavily tweaked to fit the touchscreen.

Sure, there are some traditional twin-stick shooters in the vein of Geometry Wars (including Bizarre’s XBLA hit itself on iPhone and iPad), but these two games eschew the basting altogether, and make it all about dodging instead of shooting.

Thanks to FreeAppADay and OpenFeint’s Free Game of the Day, Tilt to Live and Bit Pilot (respectively) are now free until tomorrow.

Tilt to Live is a bullet hell shooter that has you picking up power-ups to destroy the red enemies on screen. Weapons range from an icy explosion to a thunderous lightning bolt. You get three modes, five weapons, and 44 addictive challenges.

Bit Pilot is far more sober, with slightly less manic gameplay and a far more zoomed out view of the asteroid filled battlefield. You use your two thumbs to propel your tiny pixel ship, dodge asteroids, and collect power-ups.

Both are free right now, so head to iTunes and slap them on your iPhone. Or iPad, as both work pretty fabulously on the large screened tablet.
