The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is heading to New Nintendo 3DS, for real

Yesterday, for April Fool's Day, Edmund McMillen wrote up a blog post announcing The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth for 3DS, Wii U, and Xbox One.

It was obviously a joke, and oh, how we laughed about it. But it turns out that Rebirth is actually heading to those platforms. No, for real, seriously.

Once midnight came and went, exchanging April 1st for April 2nd, McMillen then shared a Vine of Rebirth working on a New Nintendo 3DS.

Afterwards, Tyrone Rodriguez of Nicalis - the game's publisher - shared more Vines (here and here) to further cement the truth that Rebirth was heading to the New 3DS.

It uses the top screen to display the main action of the game while the bottom screen shows you the mini-map.

So it turns out that the only part of McMillen's April Fool's announcement that isn't real is the bit about the game's censorship.

Rodriguez said in another tweet that Rebirth on 3DS "is not censored in any way."

This was to clear up any confusion after McMillen joked in his April Fool's post that to get it on Nintendo's platforms he had to remove the game's mature content and swap out the religious themes for other ones (God became Dog).

This was a jokey reference to Nintendo's previous rejection of The Binding of Isaac on 3DS back in 2012.

With that all cleared up, all that's left to say is that The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth will be heading to New 3DS soon.
