Creative Strategist for Call of Duty brings 2D platformer The Adventures of Dash to Kickstarter

It's a hard life being a narcoleptic, but the young hero Dash isn't about to let something like sudden sleeping spells ruin his childhood.

This is because every time that Dash dreams, he enters a different world where he becomes a new hero faced with new enemies to defeat.

Such is the ambitious game world of the 2D puzzle platformer The Adventures of Dash, an indie title under development by Call of Duty veteran Robert Bowling.

Unlike previous games that Bowling's worked on, The Adventures of Dash is focused on exploration and dreaming instead of headshots and fragging.

At least, it will be if its Kickstarter campaign is successfully funded.

Dream big

While The Adventures of Dash aims to recapture the retro feel of 16-bit gaming, its art style and graphics are decidedly modern.

The Awake world has a hand-drawn look that's reminiscent of Scribblenauts, but when Dash enters a dream he becomes someone else entirely as the world around him changes.

In one dream, Dash will be a sword-wielding adventurer in the black-and-white pages of a comic book while another dream casts him as an ax-wielding lumberjack tearing through richly coloured woods on a moonlit night.

Each of these worlds features completely different puzzles, enemies, game physics, and goals, all of which should keep players on their toes and encourage them to explore the Awake world in the hopes of triggering a new, unexplored dream.

Currently, The Adventures of Dash has 29 days to go in its campaign to raise $400,000 for the game's development and distribution.

Should the Kickstarter campaign succeed, the PC, Mac, Ouya, and Linux version of The Adventures of Dash will be released in November 2013 with the iOS and Android versions to follow.
