Sword of Justice is NetEase's groundbreaking MMORPG with global pre-registration now open
  • Sword of Justice has been officially announced, with global pre-registration now open
  • This Wuxia-flavoured MMORPG has big promises for graphical and mechanical capability
  • Ray-traced graphics, AI-powered NPCs and high-flying martial arts combat included

With NetEase's many announcements over the past weeks, such as Sea of Remnants and Destiny: Rising finally hitting global pre-registration, it may surprise you to learn they've got one more, and it's a doozy. That's because their highly-touted Chinese fantasy MMORPG Sword of Justice is now in global pre-registration for all platforms!

Set in late 12th-century China in the midst of the historic Northern Song Dynasty, Sword of Justice uses a mix of historical authenticity and pure fantasy to create something new. Inspired by the iconic Wuxia genre of martial-arts fantasy, Sword of Justice is, naturally, all about dramatic fights and sweeping vistas of the natural world and sprawling metropolises.

Moreso than that, Sword of Justice is really pushing the envelope for what can be achieved in an MMORPG. NetEase have partnered with Nvidia to bring ray-tracing and a patented weather system to Sword of Justice. With this new tech, they're promising breathtaking graphical quality without sacrificing optimisation.

But perhaps more impressive, and controversial, than that is Sword of Justice's new NPC AI system. Yes, no more repeating of canned lines, because Deepseek and NetEase's proprietary AI system promises that NPCs will not only remember your actions, but respond organically and possess their own distinct personalities and identities.

There's a whole lot more to discuss about what NetEase are promising. Dramatic Wuxia swordfights without tanking your framerate, co-op gameplay with everything from Romantic Bonds, Mentorship, Sworn Brotherhoods and Guild Alliances to form with your fellow warriors, to the old chestnut of 'No P2W'.

What NetEase is promising could very well be a new landmark in gaming as a whole, if it delivers that is.

But for now, a global launch is a long way off. So if you need something to tide you over, why not check out our list of the top five new mobile games to try this week?
