Retina display-enhanced jet fighter Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy soars onto iOS

Namco Bandai's Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy - first shown off during last week's unveiling of the new iPad - is now patrolling the skies of the App Store.

Air Supremacy is the sequel to WWI biplane title Rise of Glory, and sees the action transplanted from a period in which those magnificent men in their flying machines did battle into an age where "Iceman" is considered fair game for a pilot's call sign.

There are over 40 "modern jets" to pilot, which should appeal to the planespotters in the crowd, and the action takes place over a variety of rather striking-looking environments, including oceans, cities, and mountains.

Line Break! Line Break!

The graphics have been engineered to take advantage of the latest Apple hardware, so anyone packing an iPhone 4S or iPad 2 (and above) can expect to see examples of bump mapping, volumetric clouds, and a whole host of other graphical jargon during play.

As well as a Campaign mode for pilots who love to fly solo, Air Supremacy includes what seems to be a fairly extensive suite of online multiplayer modes, ranging from the standard Deathmatch and team-based Defend the Base, to the surely-impossible-if-you're-in-a-jet-plane Capture the Flag mode.

Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy is out now on the App Store as a Universal app, priced £2.99 / $4.99. You can nab it right away by hitting the button below.
