Skull Up tier list (March 2026) - The best army to recruit on the road to becoming the Skull King
They may be legions of the undead, but you need them if you want to be the King. Our Skull Up tier list should help you pick the best Skellies to summon from the grave!
Undead versions of Batman, Hatsune Miku, and Joan of Arc? Skull Up has all that and more, as it's an idle RPG with so many things to do that you'll never be able to put it down.
You'll embark on a journey to become the Skull King, so you'll need to build an army, engage in strategic combat, and manage your cemetery. This also features a lot of mini-games and a unique design, with some Skellies inspired by famous real-life and fictional characters.
With dozens and dozens of Skellies to summon from the grave, it can be pretty challenging to know which one to focus on. It's especially important at the beginning, when resources must be invested correctly in order to progress quickly. In our Skull Up tier list, we'll rank the best Skellies to use based on their role.
To recruit new undead soldiers, you need to use Summon Cards. This idle RPG is quite generous with these, but if you need more, you can check out our Skull Up codes list. Some of these grant even more Summon Cards.
Skull Up tier list
We'll focus on 5-star characters, since 4-star characters or below are just not good enough, so you should never invest in them. Patience is key here, as the probability of summoning a 5-star character with a 10x summon is higher than with a single summon.
1
Assault Skellies
We begin our Skull Up tier list with the Assault Skellies. They are basically DPS, so these soldiers need a high damage output, especially for boss fights. Some of them can only be obtained via special banners.
Trey and Grim are currently the best attackers, even if you don't invest too much in them. The A Tier Skellies are right behind, but they need some investment and more specific conditions to shine. Ne Zha, for example, deals more damage if the target is another Assault hero.
Even if he's ''only'' B Tier, Exor is a good pick from the start. He's not as strong as the others, but he can recover some of his HP when he kills an enemy. He's reliable in the long run, especially if you find the right team synergy for him.
As for the other Skellies, they are only useful in the early stages. They'll quickly show their limits when things start to heat up.
2
Defense Skellies
To protect your team, you need tanks. They are placed in the frontline and need both good defence and a decent amount of HP.
The limited hero Bucky is currently the best tank. He's got strong survivability and is reliable, pretty much like Dirk. For more accessible Skellies, you can pick Pan or Dawn: when placed correctly on the battlefield and with the right synergy, they'll quickly become essential.
Bruiser is not as exceptional, but he can protect his allies for quite a while and apply an enhanced armour, so it's worth investing a few resources in him. Cretan can be used in the early stages, but you should switch to better options quickly. As for Barkley, he should never be on your team.
3
Magic Skellies
These mages specialise in AoE damage, elemental powers, buffs for their allies, and debuffs for their foes.
Sparky is not only the best and most consistent mage, but she's also really easy to use. Each attack has a chance to inflict Flame Shackles on an enemy, making them unable to act for a turn. Dealon comes right behind and remains viable throughout the RPG thanks to his good damage output, increased with each stack of buffs.
Zero, Lady Draga, and Spinner are still solid picks, especially Lady Draga as she can inflict Burn, but they need some investment and a good team composition to truly shine. As for the others, they're only useful at the beginning since they are just too inconsistent to be reliable.
4
Support Skellies
To conclude, we have supports. They heal their allies and enhance their stats, so they quickly become essential when combat starts to get tougher.
For the most powerful supports, you should pick either Joan or Warren. They're currently the best healers, so you can invest in them without too much thought. Joan's Sacred Protection is especially useful during boss fights: if her ally with the lowest HP dies, they are resurrected with HP equal to 400% of her ATK.
Kit can also revive an ally, but with less HP than Joan, while applying damage reduction, and is pretty straightforward to use. When upgraded, Pally proves useful since he recovers HP equal to his ATK. Harpy and Corna are unfortunately not as useful and are the weakest picks here, so don't bother investing in them.
There's surprisingly a lot of strategic depth here, so while our Skull Up tier list can help you choose the right Skellies, don't forget to experiment. Like in other RPGs, team synergy and understanding of the gameplay are key to success.
